Reblogged from A mum's internal monologue:
"Exercise helps fight postpartum depression" according to this latest study from Finland. Seeing as we have known for some time that exercise helps improve mood in everyone (whether depressed or not), it's not going to make headline news.
But what this seeming statement of the obvious hides is that exercise benefits women suffering from PND (and all new mothers to some degree) above and beyond the action of the endorphins.
Thanks Cat, for being my guest. Great post! I used to do quite a bit of running before husband and boy came along but it became less and less, what I wanted to spend any “free time” doing, in fact it became the last thing I wanted to do.
I’ve just recently found the time and will to pound the streets again (until the freezing weather came and spoilt it) and it really does offer all the things you mention and is precious and unique “me time”.
Thank you for having me!
So glad you’re managing to carve out some time for you – hope you manage to find something to do while the pavements are icy. Swim or…a walk to the pub? x
oooooo! now there’s an idea…
